A traditional antique country oak washstand, designed with a solid oak frame, twin cupboard doors and raised on its original castors. The simple, well-balanced proportions reflect the practical style of country furniture from the early 20th century, likely Edwardian in period.
The frame is constructed from solid oak, while the top, sides and door panels are finished in well-matched oak veneer, a common cabinetmaking technique of the time used to showcase attractive grain patterns across larger surfaces. The washstand has been stripped back and revarnished but retains its original handles and hardware, adding further authenticity and character to the piece.
Originally designed for bedrooms before indoor plumbing became commonplace, washstands such as this now work beautifully as hallway cupboards, side cabinets, or characterful storage pieces in both period and modern interiors.
