This early 20th century oak two drawer chest is of honest, practical design, typical of Edwardian country furniture. The piece is constructed with a solid oak top, frame and drawer fronts, while the sides are finished in well-matched oak veneer — a traditional method of the period allowing for stability while maintaining a consistent grain.

Comprising two full-width drawers set within a sturdy oak frame, the chest is raised on straight square supports and finished with a gently shaped back rail. Subtle carved detailing along the lower apron and rear rail adds quiet character, giving the piece a restrained decorative presence without overwhelming its clean proportions.

The chest has been carefully stripped and sympathetically restored, revealing the natural warmth and texture of the timber and presenting in a lighter, refined rustic finish. The drawers are fitted with classic brass drop handles mounted on decorative backplates, complementing the age and understated elegance of the piece.

A solid and versatile chest, restored and ready for use in a bedroom, guest room or hallway setting.
